Time Kadrijaj, of the conservative Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) party, disrupted the session after growing angry at caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti and yelling: ‘Shame on you!’ The chaos ramped up a level when she reached into her handbag and began pulling out eggs. As security rushed to stand in Kurti’s way, she lobbed at least four them while continuing to shout. The incident came amid political upheaval in Europe’s newest democracy, where three elections have taken place in just over two years with a fourth possibly on the way. Kurti said later that if being pelted with eggs is the price of dialogue, ‘I am happy to pay this price’. He has good reason not to be too annoyed about the disruption. His own left-wing Vetevendosje (VV) party was responsible for letting off tear gas in the parliament in 2018 and several times in 2015. Caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti has been the focus of anger from opposition MPs Those protests were over a pair of agreements with Serbia and Montenegro that had the aim of normalising relations. At the time of the initial tear gas protests, the European Union issued a statement saying: ‘This kind of violent obstruction is neither acceptable nor will it solve any problem for the citizens of Kosovo.’ Now, he has found himself on the other side of demonstrations after his party won the last election with too few seats to elect a new president themselves. The different sides have yet to agree on a candidate, and Kurti’s attempt to tell Parliament he needed more time was met with uproar. Daniel Kinahan, who has been living in Dubai for years, was picked up on a government jet after his extradition from the Emirates An alleged gang figure, Daniel Kinahan, was extradited from Dubai on an Irish government jet after an arrest warrant. The boxing promoter, who is in his 40s, was apprehended on an arrest warrant in Dubai, where he has lived. He is said to have been picked up on an Irish government jet which took off from the United Arab Emirates shortly after 10am today. The warrant, issued by the Irish courts, relates to alleged serious organised crime offences. Mr Kinahan is accused of being a leading figure in the Kinahan organised crime group, and being involved in international drug trafficking and firearm offences. The operation to bring him back to Ireland was orchestrated together with the UAE officials. Jim O’Callaghan and Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi said the Irish national being extradited was ‘regarded as one of the most high-profile individuals sought for prosecution in connection with transnational organised crime.’ They confirmed the extradition after a formal request submitted by Irish authorities, and the final decision was issued following a judgment by the Dubai Court of Cassation, in accordance with the extradition treaty between the two countries. They said the decision ‘sends a clear message that suspected perpetrators of serious and organised crime will find no safe haven from justice, reaffirming the shared determination of both countries to ensure that such individuals are brought before the courts.’ The ministers added that the final extradition decision ‘reflects the steadfast commitment of both countries to the rule of law and reinforces international judicial co-operation.’ Mr O’Callaghan expressed Ireland’s ‘deep appreciation for the support of the United Arab Emirates in handling the extradition request,’ and commended the ‘professionalism, efficiency and diligence demonstrated by the UAE judicial authorities throughout the extradition proceedings.’ ‘This decision is another landmark of judicial co-operation between the two countries and reflects the strength of our partnership to address transnational organised crime,’ he added. The Kinahan cartel was involved in a feud with rival Hutch gang in Ireland, with the rift dating back to 2015. An attempt was made on Mr Kinahan’s life in 2016. He is said to have gotten married in 2017 in the luxury Burj Al Arab hotel, dubbed the world’s only seven-star hotel. Mr Kinahan is scheduled to appear before Dublin’s Special Criminal Court later today to face a charge of directing an organised crime group. The footage shows staff wrestling the man away from the door as the plane was 30,000ft in the air. Indian national Jamsheer Athanikkal, 36, has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Athanikkal sat in 12A on a Batik Air flight from Malaysia to India on Wednesday when he allegedly tried to wrench open the emergency exit. Scratches can be seen around the window panel which he allegedly tried to break open. Other passengers and cabin crew fought to overpower him before restraining him with cable ties. It is alleged he threatened fellow fliers when they tried to stop him. The flight was diverted back to  Kuala Lumpur, where Athanikkal was taken into custody. Athanikkal, who works in hospitality, reportedly told officers during questioning about the incident that he had ‘felt like doing so at that moment’. He allegedly told the police he had ‘felt like dying while travelling on the flight’. The passneger tried wenching open the airplane doors The suspect reportedly added he was flying home to see his newborn child. A spokesman for Kochi airport police said the incident happened during the flight between 9.30pm and 11pm. He said: ‘Jamsheer was a traveller in seat number 12A. ‘Without any provocation, he tried to open the emergency exit and destroyed the exit window panel. ‘He threatened the co-passengers and the crew, who tried to prevent him. ‘Later, he was overpowered by the co-passengers and the crew.’ Athanikkal was first arrested on suspicion of criminal intimidation, failing to follow official safety directions and endangering public safety. Officers have now also arrested him on suspicion of attempted murder. The spokesman said: ‘However, as the act of the accused could have endangered the lives of the co-passengers, we have invoked an attempt to murder charge against him. ‘He has to be questioned in detail as part of the probe.’ Police want to remand Athanikkal in custody and will establish his mental condition as part of their investigations. The Israeli Prime Minister told a cabinet meeting on Sunday that the military will ‘continue to thwart threats against our forces and our citizens’. The US President’s Board of Peace claimed last month it had reached an agreement for the ‘complete disarmament’ of Hamas, as well as other armed groups in Gaza. But Hamas insisted it would not hand over its heavy weapons until Israel ended ‘all forms of aggression’ and withdrew its forces from Gaza. Israel has continued to strike Gaza since agreeing to an initial ceasefire in the territory last October. Netanyahu told ministers: ‘Israel rejects the 15-point plan. Natanyahu’s intervention is a blow to Trump, who announced a ‘monumental step toward lasting peace and security’ last month when he said Hamas had acepted a disarmament plan for Gaza. The plan had already come under fire from Netanyahu’s far-right allies. His National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir dismissed the draft as ‘not acceptable’. Naval operations tracking the vessels increased by 25% in July compared to last year (Picture: Ministry of Defence) There has been a surge in the number of Russian ships in UK waters in the past year, the Royal Navy has warned. Naval operations tracking the vessels increased by 25% in July compared to last year. Offshore patrol vessels HMS Tyne, HMS Mersey and HMS Severn were deployed to monitor Neustrashimy and Admiral Grigorovich, which themselves were escorting ‘shadow fleet’ tankers in the Dover Strait and North Sea over the course of the month. Russia uses its shadow fleet, a network of 700 ageing tankers, to dodge sanctions imposed by other countries on its oil exports and to help fund the war in Ukraine. HMS Tyne also monitored the Neustrashimy as it conducted a live firing exercise on July 20 near British and French waters. Meanwhile, the frigate HMS Somerset and helicopters from the Navy’s Fleet Air Arm have been monitoring Russian activity in the North Atlantic. This is part of a four-month Nato operation to find submarines in the area. Somerset’s commanding officer, Commander Matt Millyard, said: ‘This deployment demonstrates exactly what the Royal Navy exists to do – protect the UK and our allies from wherever our interests are threatened. ‘I am immensely proud of every single member of the ship’s company for what we have achieved over the past four months. ‘It is fantastic to bring the ship home after a highly successful deployment and reunite with our families.’ Earlier this year, the Smyrtos tanker was seized by Royal Marines in June and boarded by British forces. The captain of the ship, Ajay Pant, was charged for allegedly breaching international sanctions on Russian oil transport. The MoD said in its annual report last month that Royal Navy vessels had been ‘activated’ some 116 times in the year to March 2026 to shadow 61 Russian warships and 28 merchant vessels, a 30% increase in Russian naval activity over the previous two years. This also included operations to deter the spy ship Yantar that was spotted near undersea cables off Scotland in November 2025.
