A 25-year-old man was killed in a car accident Friday morning in Avondale.
A Toyota RAV4 was traveling north in the 3500 block of North Elston Avenue about 5:50 a.m. Friday, when the driver disregarded a traffic signal and struck a Toyota Prius traveling southbound on Kedzie Avenue, police said. The driver of the Prius, a 37-year-old male, was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition. The 25-year-old male was sitting in the passenger seat of the Prius. He was taken to Illinois Masonic, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The driver of the RAV4 fled the scene on foot, police said. No one is in custody.
The Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating.
