One person was killed and another injured in an apartment fire Tuesday afternoon on the Northwest Side.
Firefighters were called to a fire in a top-floor apartment in the 5200 block of North Bernard Street around 1:30 p.m., according to the Chicago Fire Department.
One person, who was unidentified, was found dead at the scene and another was taken in fair condition to Stroger Hospital, fire officials said.
The fire was extinguished by around 2:20 p.m., fire officials said.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
