One man was killed and another critically injured in a shooting in the Austin neighborhood Wednesday, according to Chicago police.
The two men, 43 and 39, were approached by five other men in the 4900 block of West Erie Street at 3:36 p.m. when one of them fired multiple shots at the two, police said. The elder man died at Mt. Sinai Hospital after being shot in the head and chest.
The younger man was shot multiple times and took himself to Loretto Hospital where he was listed in critical condition, police said.
No one was in custody, police said.
