1 person and horse killed in collision on 15 Freeway in Norco

A person and a horse died after a car collided with the animal on the 15 freeway in Norco on Sunday, authorities said.

Around 2 a.m., a sedan was traveling along the freeway, near Sixth Street, when the driver collided with the horse, according to the Cal Fire Riverside County Fire Department.

One victim and the horse were pronounced dead at the scene.

Another person who was in the car was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

It was not immediately clear who was driving, or how the horse had made its way onto the freeway.

The horse may have escaped from a truck that was towing the animal in a trailer, according to footage from news videographer OnScene TV.
