One woman has died and another was injured during a fire that erupted in a fourth-floor apartment of a high-rise Thursday morning in West Town.
A woman was found dead in a fourth-floor unit that the 8:50 a.m. fire was confined to, according to Larry Merritt, a spokesperson for the Chicago Fire Department. Her name and pronouncement information has not been released.
A woman from another apartment suffered smoke inhalation that was not thought to be life-threatening, and she was taken to Stroger Hospital, Merritt said.
The cause of the fire, which was quickly extinguished, was under investigation.
