In a statement posted on Facebook, Wild Rivers officials said the boy “experienced a non-water, but medical related incident outside one of our pools.

“Despite the swift response from our team and emergency services, he sadly passed away later at the hospital,” the statement continued.

“Our hearts go out to the boy’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” Wild Rivers officials said.

Wild Rivers opened at Irvine’s Great Park in July 2022. Its previous location, which was open for 25 years, was closed in 2011 and replaced by apartments.
