A 14-year-old boy accidentally shot himself Wednesday in the Oakland neighborhood, according to Chicago police.
The boy was handling a firearm around 1:15 p.m. in the 600 block of East 38th Street when it discharged, striking his right foot, police said in a statement.
He was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, police said.
A firearm was recovered at the scene, police said. Area 1 detectives are investigating.
