16-year-old boy among 2 critically wounded in Hegewisch shooting

A 16-year-old boy was among two people critically wounded in a shooting Tuesday morning in Hegewisch on the Far South Side.

Officers responded to calls of a person shot around 8:35 a.m. in the 13400 block of South Torrence Avenue and found the boy with multiple gunshot wounds to his body, Chicago police said.

He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was in critical condition, police said.

A 20-year-old man went to Trinity Hospital with gunshot wounds to his body and head, officials said. He was also in critical condition.

A firearm was recovered at the scene, authorities said.

No one was in custody.
