A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot Thursday night in South Chicago on the South Side.
Around 10:55 p.m., the boy was shot in the chest in the 8800 block of South Marquette Avenue, Chicago police said.
He collapsed on the parkway in front of a building at 8816 S. Marquette Ave. where he and a group of acquaintances had been hanging out. The group then took him to Advocate Trinity Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:06 p.m., police said.
Police found a purse with apparent blood on it on the scene and detectives were searching for witnesses and video.
No one was in custody.
Area 2 detectives are investigating.
