Nobody was hurt but firefighters were able to save the lives of two cats during an apartment fire Wednesday morning in the North Center neighborhood.
Around 7 a.m., firefighters responded to the 4200 block of North Leavitt Street for a fire that started in the basement of the building, Chicago Fire Department spokesperson Larry Langford said.
Residents in the building self-evacuated and two cats were rescued from the building, Langford said.
Some displacements were expected, added Langford, and the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
