2 CTA passengers shot by gunman on Northwest Side bus

Police were looking for a 40-year-old man who shot two CTA bus passengers after a fight Sunday night in on the Northwest Side.

Around 11:45 p.m., a 40-year-old man was arguing with someone on the bus in the 4800 block of West Belmont Avenue when the 40-year-old left the bus and opened fire at the man, hitting him and another passenger, Chicago police said.

The man he’d been arguing with was shot in the abdomen and leg and was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in fair condition, police said.

A 22-year-old man was grazed in the ankle and was taken to Community First hospital in good condition, officials said.

A spokesperson for the CTA said shooting occurred on a #77 Belmont bus at Belmont and Lamon avenues.

No one was in custody.
