2 firefighters injured in Inglewood fire where roof collapsed

Fire crews battled a two-alarm fire in an Inglewood commercial building where the roof collapsed and two firefighters were reported to have sustained injuries.

The fire was reported at 10:29 a.m. Friday on the 4300 block of West Century Boulevard and went to a second alarm shortly after 11 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Rescue ambulances were summoned to the scene, and two people were taken to hospitals — one at 11:47 a.m. and the other at 12:25 a.m., but a department spokesman had no information on the patients or their injuries.

According to broadcast reports, the injured were two firefighters, at least one of whom sustained minor injuries when the roof caved in.

More than two hours after the fire was reported, firefighters continued battling the blaze in defensive mode, pouring water on the flames from outside the structure, according to a spokeswoman, who said it was unclear what was housed in the building.
