2 shot, 1 fatally, in Auburn Gresham

A man was killed and a woman was critically injured in a shooting Monday evening in Auburn Gresham, police said.

Robert S. Parker, 37, a 27-year-old man and a woman, 44, were in a car in the 8500 block of South Aberdeen Street, when they were approached by a group of people around 4:45 p.m. and at least one of the people fired shots, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Parker was pronounced dead at 5:01 p.m. at the University of Chicago Medical Center after he suffered two gunshot wounds to the head, the medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy for Parker, of the 6700 block of South Claremont Avenue, is scheduled.

The woman was in critical condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with a gunshot wound to the head. The younger man wasn’t hurt.

The suspects fled the scene, and no one is in custody. Detectives are investigating.
