A suspect is in custody after a shooting that hospitalized two people at a Granada Hills day care center Tuesday afternoon, July 29.
Police and fire crews responded around 12:35 p.m. to the Kids Dream Learning Center at 17320 Firma Ct., where a 74-year-old man opened fire and fled in a Tesla, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The man walked into the day care center, took out a shotgun and fired a round, shooting two women in their 50s.
Paramedics with the Los Angeles Fire Department transported them to a hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, according to authorities. No children were injured.
It was not immediately known if any children witnessed the shooting.
Police said they later found the suspect in the area of Balboa Boulevard and Sherman Way, where he was taken into custody.
After the shooting, authorities worked to reunite children with their families.
Officials did not release information on a motive. The investigation is ongoing.
