Two people who purchased lottery tickets in the Bay Area each won $1.1 million dollars after the latest results from Powerball, according to the California Lottery website.
The unknown individuals were two of four winners across the state to match five numbers in the winning amount, which were 3, 18, 22, 27, 33, and 17. Each of the winners from the latest draw has won $1,165,399, while the elusive $1 billion jackpot has yet to be drawn.
The winning tickets from the Bay Area were purchased at a Mobil station on Oak Park Boulevard in Pleasant Hill and a 7-Eleven on Clearlake Avenue in Milpitas. The other winning tickets were sold in the Southern California cities Duarte and Ontario.
The odds of winning the $1 billion jackpot are one in 292,201,338, according to the California Lottery website.
The winners have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim their money. Powerball drawings occur every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
