Citations were pending for the driver of a car that caused a chain-reaction three-vehicle crash late Thursday that sent three people to hospitals on the South Side.
Around 11:10 p.m. in the 100 block of West 51st Street, a black sedan ran a red light and plowed into a black Jeep turning at the intersection, Chicago police said. The black Jeep then crashed into a different black sedan that was going west.
The driver black car that disregarded the light, a 32-year-old man, suffered trauma to his body and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was in fair condition, police said.
A 29-year-old pregnant passenger in the Jeep was taken to the same hospital in fair condition, authorities said.
The 37-year-old driver of the black sedan struck by the Jeep was also taken to the University of Chicago where he was treated for cuts, officials said.
The driver of the Jeep refused medical attention, authorities said.
