A crash involving three semitrucks has closed both directions of Interstate 70 near Gun Club Road in Aurora.
One semi caught fire in the crash and has since been extinguished by Aurora Fire Rescue. The westbound onramp from E-470 is also closed, according to the Aurora Police Department.
Police said the crash was reported around 8:20 a.m. There is no information at this time about possible injuries, but medical responders are on scene evaluating the people involved.
There is no estimate for when the interstate will reopen. Alternate routes are recommended, police said.
Aurora Fire Rescue told The Denver Post in an interview that its hazmat team is responding to the scene to help contain spilled diesel fuel. At this time, there is no information on whether fuel made it into the soil in the area.
No other hazardous materials are involved, Aurora Fire Rescue said.
