4 hurt, drivers charged, in West Town car crash

A 34-year-old driver was arrested after he crashed into another car in West Town on Saturday night, Chicago police said.

The driver of a Lexus SUV who had two children in the car was traveling south about 10:40 p.m. in the 1000 block of Western Avenue when he struck a Lexus sedan crossing Western at Thomas Street. The Lexus SUV then hit two parked cars on Western.

A 9-year-old girl in the SUV suffered multiple fractures to her head, face and arm. She was taken to Humboldt Park Heath in critical condition. Authorities said the SUV driver was bruised all over his body, and an 11-year-old passenger’s face was cut in the crash. They were both taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition, police said.

An 11-year-old girl in the Lexus sedan suffered minor head injuries and was taken in good condition to St. Mary’s, according to police. It was not reported whether the driver of the sedan was injured or taken to a hospital.

The driver of the SUV was arrested and issued nine citations. The driver of the sedan was issued one citation.
