Deommodore Lenoir is good to go for the 49ers today against the Arizona Cardinals.
Lenoir was listed as questionable Friday with a calf injury which happened in practice Thursday while jogging off the field.
“We’ll find out more when we get an MRI,” coach Kyle Shanahan said.
Apparently, for a change, the news was good as Lenoir is expected to take his place as a starting cornerback opposite Renardo Green.
The 49ers (6-4) visit the Cardinals (3-6) at State Farm Stadium (Fox, 1:05 p.m.) with quarterback Brock Purdy (toe) and wide receiver Ricky Pearsall Jr. (knee) back on the field after having not played since Sept. 28 against Jacksonville.
The 49ers had been concerned enough about Lenoir’s status that they flexed cornerback Eli Apple from the practice squad Saturday, anticipating he may be needed as a backup with Darrell Luter Jr. starting in place of Lenoir.
Instead, Apple finds himself on the inactive list a day after believing he might suit up to face the Cardinals.
Also inactive for the 49ers were defensive lineman Clelin Ferrell, running back Jordan James, wide receiver Jordan Watkins, guard Connor Colby and defensive lineman Kevin Givens.
Ferrell was signed to the 53-man roster Saturday, an indication he’s in the 49ers’ plans over the last seven games. Neither he nor Givens were listed on the final injury report. Givens wasn’t activated until Week 7 because of a torn pectoral muscle.
That leaves the 49ers even thinner than usual along the defensive line. Available as outside pass rushers are Bryce Huff and Sam Okuayinonu, with Keion White and Robert Beal Jr. available in reserve. White can also play inside at tackle, where the 49ers will start Kalia Davis and Alfred Collins with Jordan Elliott and C.J. West in reserve.
The 49ers are suiting up Marques Sigle, a rookie fifth-round draft pick who has been a healthy scratch the last two games after starting the first seven games and rarely leaving the field before Malik Mustapha and Ji’Ayir Brown took over as the starters.
The 49ers actually go into the game as the healthier team in terms of recent injuries.
Inactive for the Cardinals are wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. (appendix), cornerback Will Johnson (back, hip), linebacker Baron Browning (concussion), safety Rabbit Taylor-Demerson (ankle), offensive lineman Jonah Williams (shoulder), offensive lineman Demontray Jacobs and defensive lineman Bilal Nichols.
Nolen’s impact
Walter Nolen III, a defensive tackle out of Ole Miss, was scouted by the 49ers, who instead took Mykel Williams with the No. 11 pick in the first round. Nolen went to the Cardinals at No. 16 and didn’t make his debut until two weeks ago because of a late-July calf injury.
Williams was lost to the 49ers with a torn ACL sustained against the New York Giants two weeks ago. Williams did some good things along the defensive line both as an end and a tackle and was very good at defending the run.
Nolen has made an instant impact with Arizona, with a sack and two tackles for loss in a 27-17 Monday night win over Dallas and also playing well in a 24-22 loss to Seattle. He’s played 72 snaps in his first two games.
“He was a really good player. One of the better inside D-Linemen in the draft,” Shanahan said. “Extremely talented. Knew a lot of his coaches from Ole Miss who spoke real highly of him. We were fortunate that he didn’t go against us in the first game and just seeing him on tape these last few weeks or whatever it’s been, yeah, he looks like he did in college, a first-round pick who should have a real good career.”
