5 cyclists injured in Douglas County crash near Sterling Ranch

Five people were injured when a cycling group riding near the Sterling Ranch neighborhood in Douglas County crashed on Saturday morning.

There were approximately 12 cyclists riding together on Waterton Road near Moore Road when the crash happened at around 9:18 a.m., according to South Metro Fire Rescue officials.

It’s not clear what caused the cyclists to go down, spokesperson Brian Willie said. Two cyclists were taken to the hospital in “emergent” condition and one person was taken to the hospital with non-urgent injuries.

Two others were looked at by medics at the scene but didn’t need to go to the hospital, Willie said.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will investigate the crash.
