6 injured when car hits man, 71, and CTA bus in Greater Grand Crossing

Six people were injured when a car hit a 71-year-old man and a CTA bus Thursday night in Grand Crossing on the South Side.

At about 8:20 p.m., a white car had the right of way and was going east in the first block of East 79th Street when it hit a 71-year-old man who was crossing the street “when not permitted,” Chicago police said.

Just before hitting the man, the car also swerved into a CTA bus going in the same direction, police said.

The driver of the bus, a 27-year-old woman, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where she was in good condition, officials said.

Four passengers, 30, 34, 44 and 61, were taken to Saint Bernard and Jackson Park Hospitals as a precaution, police said.

The 71-year-old pedestrian was taken to the University of Chicago where he was in good condition, authorities said.

No citations were issued.
