$60,000 reward in 2021 murder of two Compton men

A $60,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspects who Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s officials say were involved in the murder of two men in Compton four years ago, the LASD announced Tuesday.

Javier Menchaca and Juan Orozco were fatally shot on Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021, at 12:58 a.m. while seated inside Menchaca’s vehicle during an illegal street race/street takeover event near 1940 N. Bullis Road and Pine Street, according to the LASD.

The victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives learned that more than 100 people were gathered at the intersection when multiple gunshots were heard in the area and where the victims were later found, the sheriff’s department said. After the crowd quickly dispersed, deputies from the Compton Station arrived and discovered both victims.
