An 80-year-old man drowned in a northern Colorado lake last week, county officials said Monday.
Authorities pulled Larry Baker’s body from Watson Lake on Sunday, six days after he left his Fort Collins home and never returned. The Larimer County Coroner’s Office on Monday ruled his death was an accidental drowning.
Baker left home early on June 16 and was reported missing the next day after he did not return home.
He was an avid fisherman, and authorities quickly found his car parked at the Watson Lake State Wildlife Area, which is northwest of Fort Collins near Bellvue, according to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.
More than 60 people — including tracking dogs, drones, ground crews, and scuba divers — searched the wildlife area for two days before his body was discovered Sunday.
