Aircraft arrive in Long Beach for annual Festival of Flight

Historic aircraft are ready to star in Long Beach.

The aircraft that will be part of the annual Festival of Flight arrived at the Long Beach Airport on Friday afternoon, Oct. 24. The festival, which began in 2013 to raise awareness about California’s oldest municipally owned airport, will take place on Saturday.

The lineup of aircraft at the Festival of Flight included the C-53 “D-Day Doll,” which participated in the D-Day invasion and Operation Market Garden in Holland. The Condor Squadron, flying the AT-6 Texan, will conduct two flyovers during the event. Anthony Oshinuga, a world-class aerobatics pilot and competitor, will also fly his Pitts Special.

Other attractions at the event will include children’s activities, food and beer trucks, and performances by the Satin Dollz, DJ Dennis and AbSOULute – a band that performs a blend of soul, funk, R&B and classic rock.
