ALAMEDA — Three 18-year-old Oakland residents are facing felony charges in connection with the armed carjacking of a woman and two children Wednesday in Alameda.
Marionna Haley, Isaiah Howard and Sariyah Barker are each charged with one count of carjacking and two counts of child abuse, as well as firearm enhancements, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release Friday.
“Children are exceptionally vulnerable to gun violence,” District Attorney Pamela Price said. “A gun allegedly being used while children were in the car at the time of this carjacking was dangerous and is absolutely unacceptable in Alameda County.”
The carjacking happened just after 2 p.m. Wednesday in the 2800 block of Mound Street.
A 42-year-old woman and two 4-year-old children — a boy and a girl — were parked in front of a home when three suspects approached them and demanded the keys to their BMW sport utility vehicle, Alameda police said. One of the suspects had a firearm.
The woman complied and was allowed to remove the children. No injuries were reported.
The suspects then drove away in the BMW.
Authorities tracked down the BMW and arrested the suspects after they crashed in San Francisco.
