Aldi has issued an urgent recall on a popular £3.99 BBQ item after it was branded ‘unsafe to eat’ and pulled from shelves.

The supermarket giant issued a recall notice on Ashfields Grill 4 Garlic and Herb Chicken kebabs after a ‘labelling error’ saw an incorrect sell-by date printed on the packaging.

Recalled items were mistakenly dated July 9 and Aldi is now offering shoppers a full refund.

An Aldi spokesperson said: ‘As a precautionary measure, our supplier is recalling Ashfields Grill 4 Garlic & Herb Chicken Kebabs 320g because a small number of products have had the incorrect use by date applied to July 9.

‘No other products are affected.

‘Customers are asked to return this product to their nearest store, where a full refund will be given.’

A statement on the products from food.gov read: ‘Aldi is recalling Ashfields Grill 4 Garlic & Herb Chicken Kebabs because of a labelling error which shows an incorrect use-by date, making the product unsafe to eat.’

The agency has advised customers ‘do not eat’ the affected kebabs, which could pose a health risk, and return them to the store from wh9ich they bought them from.
