Charges were pending after an alleged thief jumped behind the wheel of a private ambulance in Rockford and sped all the way to the Humboldt Park neighborhood, where they were arrested Wednesday night, Chicago police said.
The ambulance was stolen about 7:40 p.m. Wednesday from the Rockford police station.
It was unclear what time, but officers from the Cook County sheriff’s office later spotted the stolen ambulance in the 700 block of North Homan Avenue and conducted a traffic stop, police said.
Responding officers placed an adult male into custody and charges were pending, police said.
No further details were released.
