Annual tree lighting in Saratoga Village set for Nov. 28

The annual holiday tree lighting ceremony in Saratoga is scheduled for Nov. 28.

Visitors are encouraged to come early and stay late to enjoy the downtown shops and restaurants.

The event is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Blaney Plaza in Historic Saratoga Village. For more information, visit https://shorturl.at/RfBcK.

Volunteer hopefuls

West Valley Community Services is looking for some volunteer elves to help with Gift of Hope, the Cupertino-based nonprofit’s annual event for low-income families who might not otherwise have the opportunity to gather for the holidays.

The holiday carnival is set for Dec. 6, 6:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., at St Joseph’s, 10110 N. De Anza Blvd. The event features game booths, a food court, arts and crafts and a visit from Santa.
Volunteers are needed to help with setup and teardown, traffic flow and client assistance at each booth. Shift times vary. ​Register at https://bit.ly/4pagkNI.

Comedy show

Successful Aging Solutions & Community Consulting, also known as SASCC, is hosting a comedy night on Dec. 19.

SASCC’S Winter Comedy Jam will be hosted by comedian Tut McCulloh, who is known as Tut and runs an event series called Tut’s Tuesday Comedy Showcase. The headliner is Rob Block, also known as Irony Man.

The event will be held in SASCC’S location at 19655 Allendale Ave. Doors open at 2:30 p.m., and the event runs from 3-5 p.m.  Tickets are $5 for general seating and $10 for reserved seating.
