Armed man suspected of kidnapping, sexual assault in Fullerton arrested, police say

A 30-year-old Los Angeles man was arrested Monday, Dec. 16 after he allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted a woman in Fullerton and was found with several guns, police said.

On Dec. 11, the Fullerton Police Department received a report from a woman who said she met him a few days earlier through mutual acquaintances before the man, armed with several firearms, kidnapped her and committed aggravated and sexual assault, Fullerton police said in a news release.

Detectives identified the suspect as Arturo Urbina and issued a warrant for his arrest.

On Monday evening, Urbina was located in the Los Angeles County area by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Orange County Violent Crime Task Force. He fled from authorities and a pursuit ensued, ending after he crashed into a pole in Torrance, police said.

The suspect then attempted to flee from his vehicle but was quickly detained and taken into custody, the release said. Several guns were found in his possession during the time of his arrest, according to Fullerton police.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Aero Bureau and the California Highway Patrol assisted.
