A suspect was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 30, in the hit-and-run death of a man struck while riding a motorized scooter in Panorama City, authorities said.

Gary Schombert, 34, was riding the scooter north on Woodman Avenue, at Strathern Street, at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday when it was struck by a gray, four-door Honda sedan heading northbound on Woodman.

Schombert was ejected from the scooter and land in the roadway.

“Following the first collision, a second vehicle collided with the motorized scooter proceeding northbound Woodman Avenue,” police have said. “The driver in the second collision is cooperating with the investigation.”
