At least six people were badly hurt in a traffic crash apparently sparked by a smash and grab burglary at Luis Vuitton on North Michigan Avenue Thursday morning.
Several police officers remain on the scene at the Luis Vuitton boutique, 919 N. Michigan Ave., at the crash site at Michigan Avenue and Ohio Street as well as about two miles south near a vehicle at Roosevelt Road and Michigan Avenue, according to police scanner dispatches.
The crash happened at 3:30 a.m. at Ohio Street and Michigan Avenue, according to Chicago fire department spokesman Larry Merritt.
Three males were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital while three additional males were taken to Stroger Hospital, all in serious to critical condition.
