UNION CITY — A man found dead inside a parked car last month in Union City has finally been identified as 36-year-old Hayward resident Raul Torres, police said.
Officers were initially called to the 33500 block of 3rd Street around 4:10 p.m. on April 14 for a report of a suspicious vehicle, according to the Union City Police Department. Inside the car, they discovered a body that appeared to have been there for several weeks.
The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau identified the man as Torres, police said Friday.
“There were no signs of obvious trauma to the body, and foul play is not suspected at this time,” police said. “An official cause of death has not yet been determined.”
The effort to identify Torres was complicated because he was found surrounded by documents, money cards and IDs for at least nine different people, according to police.
Anyone with information related to the case can contact Detective Wong at 510-675-5283.
