LIVERMORE — A woman who died Monday after police said she lost control of the motorcycle she was riding and collided with a car and concrete barrier was identified by the coroner’s bureau Wednesday as Darin Chan, 37, of Livermore.
The fatal collision happened about 4 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Airway Boulevard and Isabel Avenue.
Police said preliminary findings indicate Chan was stopped at the traffic light on westbound Airway Boulevard, preparing to turn right onto northbound Isabel Avenue. As Chan began the turn, she lost control of the Kawasaki 650 motorcycle, traveled across Isabel Avenue and struck an Acura sedan that was slowing for the red light while preparing to turn left.
The motorcycle then collided with a concrete barrier. Chan, who police said was wearing a helmet, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Acura, a 35-year-old Modesto man, was the sole occupant and was not injured, police said. He called 911 immediately and has been cooperating with investigators, police said.
One southbound lane of Isabel Avenue near Interstate 580 was closed for approximately four hours for the investigation and roadway cleanup.
Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact the Livermore Police Department’s Traffic Unit at 925-371-4850.
