Avalanche announces preseason Denver doubleheader with Mammoth

The Colorado Avalanche will kick off its preseason schedule with a Denver doubleheader.

Colorado announced the details Tuesday for two Sept. 21 split-squad games with the Utah Mammoth in the Mile High City. The Avs will face the Mammoth at 2:30 p.m. on the University of Denver campus at Magness Arena, then another group will square off with Utah at 6:30 p.m. downtown at Ball Arena.

These will be the first two preseason games for Utah as the Mammoth. The club went by Utah HC in its first season playing in Salt Lake City.

The Avs will have two more home exhibition games — Sept. 27 against Dallas and Sept. 30 versus Vegas — before rounding out the preseason with contests at Vegas (Oct. 1) and Dallas (Oct. 4).

Colorado begins the 2025-26 regular season Oct. 7 at Los Angeles before the home opener two days later against the Mammoth.

The Avs will host another doubleheader of sorts later in the year when DU and Colorado play back-to-back games at Ball Arena on Saturday, Nov. 29. The Avs drop the puck first at 1 p.m. with a game against Montreal, then DU hosts the Minnesota Golden Gophers at 7 p.m. in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game.
