Bay Area man wanted for weapons violations arrested in L.A.

SAN MATEO — A 28-year-old San Mateo man wanted by police for multiple weapons violations was arrested Thursday in Southern California, according to police.

The case kicked off March 7 when a resident told officers a man was possibly following her from San Francisco to San Mateo, the San Mateo Police Department said in a news release.

Officers also learned the man took pictures of the resident’s car and returned to her neighborhood several other times, according to police.

Detectives obtained warrants to search the man’s home, where they found a cache of illegal firearms, police said.

On Thursday, Los Angeles police arrested the man at Los Angeles International Airport. He was booked on charges including possession of an assault weapon, manufacturing guns with a 3D printer and possession of a silencer, according to police.

The man is in custody in Los Angeles and waiting to be transported to San Mateo County, police said.
