Archbishop Mitty badminton player Laila Wang is the Bay Area News Group’s girls high school athlete of the week for May 19-24.
In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Wang had 36.49% of the vote. Willow Glen softball player Katelynn Dilbeck finished second at 31.34%, and Dublin track and field athlete Emma San took third.
Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.
Wang went undefeated in the regular season for the second year in a row and placed fifth alongside sister Cynthia Wang at the NorCals on Saturday at Independence High. Theirs is the best finish any Mitty team or individual has ever had at the regional badminton competition.
