Higher ceiling: Bears quarterback Caleb Williams or Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong?
Boy, we could chew on that one for a while.
Each is 23. Crow-Armstrong has exploded as a star this season, an All-Star shoo-in and the subject of some MVP talk. Williams hasn’t had his second go-round as a pro yet, but Bears fans can hardly wait for what they’re expecting to be a huge step forward.
In this week’s “Polling Place,” your home for Sun-Times sports polls on the social platform X, we asked voters to pick one.
“Caleb,” @ronw_sportsnut commented, “based on the outcome of this season.”
“PCA might be MVP this year,” @DeyoSahler wrote.
Next, we asked whether or not you’re hoping to see the Rockies break the 2024 White Sox’ record of 121 losses.
“Let another team have misery on their side,” @JBIRD1268 offered.
Last, we asked what’s in store for the Sky now that they’re off to a poor start and will be without Courtney Vandersloot for the rest of the season. Are their playoff chances cooked already?
On to the polls:
Poll No. 1: Which 23-year-old has the highest ceiling as a player?

Upshot: It’s not easy to have a higher ceiling than a No. 1 overall pick at quarterback, but PCA is making a compelling case. Fastest guy on the field? Check. A wizard with the glove? Check. Four-hundred-fifty-plus-foot power? Check. Top that, Caleb — please.
Poll No. 2: The Rockies are on pace to challenge the 2024 White Sox’ record of 121 losses in a season. Which is your preferred outcome?

Upshot: There’s something sick, twisted and perverse about wanting the Sox to hold on to this record for a while. Look, I’m not proud of it.
Poll No. 3: The Sky entered the weekend at 3-8, with Courtney Vandersloot out for the season. Have you given up on their playoff chances?

Upshot: With results like these — sheesh — they might as well just call it a year.
