Bears guard Joe Thuney was teammates with Chiefs star Travis Kelce for the previous four seasons. He smiled after Wednesday’s practice when asked about his old friend getting engaged.
“I wish them nothing but the best,” he said. “Travis was an unbelievable teammate. Wish him all the happiness in the world, and Taylor. It’s amazing. I wish them very well.”
Taylor, of course, is singer Taylor Swift, one of the most popular human beings on the planet. The two announced their engagement via social media Tuesday.
Thuney smiled when asked if he had any advice for the couple.
“I’m sure they got it handled,” he said.
Kelce and Swift have been dating for two years after a public flirtation. The first Chiefs game she attended was against the Bears — she sat in an Arrowhead Stadium suite alongside Kelce’s mom to watch a 41-10 win in Week of the 2023 season.
It was the Bears’ last training-camp practice.

When players stopped stretching Tuesday and headed off to work with their position groups, D’Andre Swift stood alone. He was the only healthy Bears running back.
