It’ll be at least another week for Bears cornerbacks Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon to return from injured reserve, and longer yet before they get linebacker Tremaine Edmunds back on the field.
The Bears didn’t activate Johnson or Gordon by the deadline Saturday, meaning both will miss the game Sunday against the Steelers. They also put Edmunds and running back Roschon Johnson on injured reserve, and the soonest those two will be eligible to return is the Week 16 home game against the Packers.
The Bears also signed running back Brittain Brown and linebacker Carl Jones from their practice squad to the active roster.
Jaylon Johnson has played just one game this season because of multiple injuries. He missed all of training camp and the season opener because of a groin injury he suffered during offseason training, then got hurt in his season debut in Week 2. He needed core muscle surgery, which could have ended his season, but recovered quickly and has been practicing for a week.
He was a full participant in practice Thursday and Friday, and the Bears listed him as questionable for the game. Based on when they opened his practice window to return from IR, they have until the week of their Dec. 7 game at the Packers to move him to the active roster.
At linebacker, along with Edmunds, starter T.J. Edwards (hamstring) and top backup Noah Sewell (elbow) are out.
