Bears safety Jaquan Brisker after coach firing: ‘God don’t make mistakes’

About 10 minutes after coach Matt Eberflus was fired on Friday, Bears safety Jaquan Brisker posted a cryptic message on X.

“God don’t make mistakes,” he wrote.

God don’t make mistakes.

Earlier in the day, Brisker appeared to find Eberflus holding his regular press conference amusing. He posted a laughing emoji at 9:05 a.m., just minutes after the Bears sent Eberflus to his regular Zoom call. His bosses were meeting and fired him two hours later.

Brisker hasn’t played since Oct. 6, when Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble led with his helmet on a Brisker tackle. Brisker was cleared to return to the game, but reported concussion symptoms the next day as the Bears were set to fly to London.

He suffered setbacks and was put on injured reserve Nov. 15, keeping him out the next four games. Even if he’s cleared to return this month, it’s unclear if Brisker could work up to game shape by the end of the year.

Latest on the Bears
While Freeman would be a long shot, he’s an intriguing option.
Brown took over as offensive coordinator three games ago when the Bears fired Shane Waldron.
Brisker’s social-media post came after Matt Eberflus’ firing.
