Bears sign TE Stephen Carlson from practice squad

The Bears signed tight end Stephen Carlson from their practice squad to the active roster Tuesday. He filled the spot that opened when they put running back Travis Homer on injured reserve last week.

Carlson, 27, has been in the NFL since 2019 and has six catches for 62 yards and a touchdown in seven career games.

The Bears also added former Texans tight end Teagan Quitoriano to their practice squad. Quitoriano, 24, was a fifth-round pick out of Oregon State in 2022, and the Texans waived him with an injury settlement Sept. 4.

In two seasons with the Texans, he caught nine passes for 146 yards and two touchdowns in 16 games. He also played 70 snaps on special teams for them.

His best game was as a rookie, when he caught three passes for 83 yards in a win over the Colts that had major impact on the Bears. By winning that game, the Texans ceded the No. 1 pick to the Bears, who flipped it for a haul to the Panthers.

Latest on the Bears
That Fields is playing 100% of the Steelers’ snaps is good news for Bears GM Ryan Poles. But other numbers leave Bears fans wondering what the 3-0 Steelers are doing that the Bears did not.
The Commanders are fifth in the NFL at 26.3 points per game and have zero punts or turnovers in their last two games.
The Bears’ head coach didn’t avoid the coaching staff’s culpability for its role in the 21-16 loss to the Colts: a bad play-call on fourth-and-goal, a bad matchup on third-and-goal and needing to call timeout to set up a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter.
