Bears TE Cole Kmet exits practice early with injury, but it’s believed to be minor: source

Bears tight end Cole Kmet left practice early with an injury, though the initial indication appeared to be that it was minor, a source said.

Coach Ben Johnson said this week Kmet is one of his most trusted skill players on offense and has been using him all over formations.

“He’s a little bit of a unicorn,” Johnson said. “You can move him around quite a bit. The beauty of having him outside the numbers is if you get him matched up on a safety or a linebacker, then that’s going to be a favor for us.

“That’s going to be a good thing. He’s going to be able to win those matchups on a consistent basis. He’s such a large target that if you put it somewhere close to him, he’ll find a way to come down with it.”

Going into his sixth season, Kmet has never missed a game. He played 88% of the snaps last season and finished with 47 catches for 474 yards and four touchdowns.
