Bears WR DJ Moore back at practice days after hospitalization for groin injury, likely to play vs. Saints

Bears wide receiver DJ Moore had a scare Monday against the Commanders, but was back on the practice field Thursday. That’s a good sign that he’s progressing toward playing Sunday against the Saints.

He suffered what the team called a groin injury and coach Ben Johnson described as “personal” in the Commanders game and stayed overnight at a hospital in Maryland before returning home. The team also listed a hip injury. Neither seems to be a significant concern going forward, however.

Moore hasn’t missed a game since 2020 with the Panthers and has played all 39 since joining the Bears. He is routinely among the team leaders in snaps played.

He is second on the team this season with 19 catches for 215 yards and a touchdown and plays some running back as well.

The Bears did not, however, have starting defensive tackle Grady Jarrett on Thursday. Jarrett injured his knee in the season opener and tried to play through it for a few games, but missed the last two. He has practiced in full just once since Sept. 6.

Here’s their full injury report for Thursday:

RB Travis Homer* (calf), Full
RB D’Andre Swift (groin), Limited
WR DJ Moore (groin/hip), Limited
RG Jonah Jackson (ankle), Full

DT Grady Jarrett (knee), DNP
DE Austin Booker* (knee), Full
LB Noah Sewell (concussion), DNP
LB Amen Ogbongbemiga (knee), Limited

K Cairo Santos (quad), DNP

* – player currently is on injured reserve and can be activated this week

Stevenson played well in his return to Northwest Stadium on Monday, a good step in his mission to prove himself reliable.
Fifteen minutes after the Bears had stolen their second straight road win, tight end Cole Kmet stood at his locker, shook his head and smiled. He knew this feeling, but usually from the other side.
The Bears’ upcoming schedule suddenly doesn’t look so daunting.
