Bears wide receiver DJ Moore had a scare Monday against the Commanders, but was back on the practice field Thursday. That’s a good sign that he’s progressing toward playing Sunday against the Saints.
He suffered what the team called a groin injury and coach Ben Johnson described as “personal” in the Commanders game and stayed overnight at a hospital in Maryland before returning home. The team also listed a hip injury. Neither seems to be a significant concern going forward, however.
Moore hasn’t missed a game since 2020 with the Panthers and has played all 39 since joining the Bears. He is routinely among the team leaders in snaps played.
He is second on the team this season with 19 catches for 215 yards and a touchdown and plays some running back as well.
The Bears did not, however, have starting defensive tackle Grady Jarrett on Thursday. Jarrett injured his knee in the season opener and tried to play through it for a few games, but missed the last two. He has practiced in full just once since Sept. 6.
