Bears WR Rome Odunze practices for first time in 3 weeks

Bears receiver Rome Odunze returned to practice Friday for the first time since Dec. 12.

He was a limited participant and was officially ruled as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Lions.

Bears coach Ben Johnson vowed that Odunze would return to the Bears at some point this season after navigating through a chronic foot issue that has nagged him since earlier in the season. It’s unclear whether Friday’s participation makes playing Sunday a real possibility or is just a jump-start on returning for the playoffs.

Odunze hasn’t appeared in a game since Nov. 28 against the Eagles. He tried to play against the Browns on Dec. 14. The Bears put him on the game day roster 90 minutes before kickoff but he felt pain in his foot during warmups and was shut down.

Despite playing in ony 12 games, Odunze trails Bears receiving yards leader DJ Moore by just 10 yards.

The Bears ruled out defensive end Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, who has a concussion. Safety Jaquan Brisker and cornerback Nick McCloud are questionable with an illness. Rifght tackle Ozzy Trapilo is questionable with injuries to his knee and quad.
