Beer truck fire on I-25 near Del Camino backs up northbound lanes

A semitruck fire on northbound Interstate 25 has been put out, but traffic is still backed up for about five miles.

Around 10:45 a.m., Mountain View Fire Rescue crews responded to a beer transport truck that caught fire around exit 240, near Del Camino, according to a social media post from the agency. Traffic backups are ongoing and stretch to around exit 235, where I-25 connects with Colorado 52.

Upon arrival, crews put the flames out within 20 minutes, but high heat in the truck meant the fire was not officially out until about 11:30 a.m.

Investigators are on scene, and the cause of the fire is not clear.

All the beer in the truck was lost to the fire and heat, the post states.

The Colorado Department of Transportation, Colorado State Patrol and Frederick-Firestone Fire District also participated in the response.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
