Celebrated Brentwood restaurant A.O.C. by James Beard Award-winning chef Suzanne Goin and restaurateur Caroline Styne will be closing its doors on Aug. 1 after 16 years at its 11648 San Vicente Blvd. location.
The business partners announced the closure on the restaurant’s Instagram page on Sunday.
“Sadly, the reasons are no surprise and are affecting most independent restaurants in Los Angeles: the aftereffects of COVID-19, followed by the actors’ and writers’ strikes, and then the fires, paired with unsustainably high rents, rising costs of goods and labor, and mounting bureaucracy,” read the statement posted by the duo.
The original A.O.C. location in West Hollywood at 8700 West Third St., will remain open, the post stated.
Goin, a three-time James Bears Award winner, and Styne, a recipient of the James Beard Foundation’s Outstanding Restaurateur of the Year in 2018, first opened the acclaimed and highly influential Lucques restaurant in 1998 before opening Tavern in 2009, which after closing during the pandemic was rebranded as the Brentwood outpost of A.O.C. in 2021.
The restaurant became known for its fine dining seasonally driven small-plates concept and popular wine bar.
“We have loved our time as part of the Brentwood community; we love our staff, past and present, and we are grateful to our many loyal customers. We hope to see you over these next six weeks and raise a glass to our long run on the Westside,” the Instagram post stated.
