Bengals QB Joe Flacco planning to play vs. Bears despite shoulder injury: report

In their second consecutive week of uncertainty about the opposing quarterback, it appears the Bears will face Joe Flacco when they visit the Bengals on Sunday.

Flacco has been out of practice all week because of a sprained AC joint, though he sounded optimistic Friday, and NFL Network reported Saturday he intends to start. If Flacco is unable to start or has to exit the game, the Bengals would go to backup Jake Browning and have Sean Clifford behind him.

While it’s not the high drama they experienced last week against the Ravens, who were fined $100,000 for inaccuracy on their injury report regarding quarterback Lamar Jackson, there’s a big difference between Flacco and the others. In three starts for the Bengals since they acquired him in a surprising trade with the Browns, he has a 100.1 passer rating and has thrown seven touchdown passes with no interceptions.

Browning has a 70.5 passer rating and throwing six touchdown passes and eight interceptions in four games. Clifford, who came up with the Packers, has played 13 career NFL snaps.
