Blackhawks unveil gold-trimmed jerseys for centennial season

The Blackhawks haven’t substantially altered their jerseys in many decades, and they’re not about to do so.

But they nonetheless unveiled Friday a slightly tweaked version of their traditional red home jerseys that they’ll wear for home games during their upcoming centennial season.

The biggest addition — with biggest being relative — is gold trim around the Hawks logo on the front and the numbers on the back.

The sweaters also feature a centennial season shoulder patch, a lace-up collar and a few things on the inside of the jersey, including the Hawks’ centennial tagline — “Always an Original” — written on the neck.

“The Blackhawks sweater has consistently been voted the best jersey in sports by players and fans alike,” Hawks chairman Danny Wirtz said in a statement. “For our Centennial season, we wanted to honor that iconic symbol of Chicago’s hockey heritage that has remained largely unchanged since 1955.

“While the classic elements of the jersey stay the same, thoughtful design details make this jersey unique — melding past and present while proving that the best traditions transcend trends.”

The NHL is expected to release the 2025-26 schedule July 16, after which the Hawks will be able to announce specific dates for centennial celebrations.

Latest on the Blackhawks
The Hawks believe the Sharks are strongly considering taking Anton Frondell with the No. 2 pick Friday, which would give them the opportunity to nab Misa.
Burakovsky, whom the Hawks acquired from the Kraken on Saturday, wants to bring efficient scoring and an emphasis on practice to Chicago.
Keith, in his first year eligible, was one of eight 2025 inductees named Tuesday. The ceremony will take place Nov. 10.
